The 3.5 km AIDS Charity Run (ACR) was introduced for the first time, as part of the 19th Pune International Marathon and was a great hit! The purpose of the ACR is to involve citizens in participating for a cause … that of spreading the message of HIV/ AIDS awareness. Participants also get a taste of the historic Marathon. Many prominent citizens and celebrities from all walks of life participate in the ACR.
The ACR is also a fun event and group participation is encouraged. It presents a wonderful opportunity for likeminded people, friends and corporate houses to make their presence felt by sporting coordinated T-shirts, wearing the AIDS ribbon, carrying placards with innovative slogans suitable to the occasion & its cause or highlighting of the strengths of our city. This is a great opportunity to promote teamwork and demonstrate social responsibility by supporting the cause. This is an opportunity for all of us to step out of the routine, wear our heart on our sleeve for a good cause and our love for Pune and celebrate life!
There are prizes for best creative group attire, best individual attire, best slogan, largest group and creation of theme related to the cause.
The age limit for the ACR is: Open.
Flag-off is at 9.00 am from Khandoji Baba chowk, Deccan Gymkhana and Finish is at Nehru stadium.
Assembly for ACR: Between 7.30 & 8.30 am only on Karve road near Khandoji Baba chowk, Deccan Gymkhana (approach from and parking on Prabhat road, S. M. Joshi bridge (Garware College) & Karve road only)
The route of the ACR is as follows – Flag off from Khandojibaba Chowk – Lakadi Pul – Alka Talkies chowk – Laxmi road – Vijay Talkies chowk – Umbrya Ganpati chowk – Kunte chowk – right turn at Nagarkar Taalim chowk onto Bajirao road – Shanipaar chowk – Nava Vishnu chowk – Babanrao Paigude chowk – Alexander Graham Bell chowk – Puram chowk – pass Baburao Sanas statue towards Saras baug – left at Jamnalal Bajaj chowk – finish inside Nehru Stadium
